In a move to tackle the plastic bottle problem and make life easier for everyone to top up their water bottles on the fly, the eco-warriors at Let's Make Cyprus Green kicked off their planet-friendly initiative right in the heart of Limassol's Dasoudi area.
Just this week, the area welcomed its fresh water refill spot – the fourth one as part of the Cyprus Refill project. In the past year, over 12,500 bottles have been spared from becoming waste thanks to the very first water station.
This do-gooder crew also managed to set up four more refill stations along the buzzing seaside walk, all through good old teamwork and support from Exness and a thumbs-up from local authorities.
Plus, they've got the green light to plant ten more stations across the island. The latest addition to this eco-paradise? A water refill spot on the Dasoudi beachfront, hanging out next to the Famagusta Maritime Club.
Speaking of heroes, Exness took the lead by fully sponsoring the project. They, along with the Yermasoyia city bigwigs, made sure there's water and electricity running smoothly. As for upkeep, Makedonas chipped in, and Karma promised to keep the water filters fresh and clean.
They popped the cork on the water station with a big event that drew all the sponsors, including the Mayor of Yermasoyia, Kyriakos Xydias, who couldn't hide his excitement for the project.
As a sweet bonus, folks who showed up got a reusable water bottle as a little thank-you to the Cyprus-based forex broker, with a nudge to use the refill station. Eleni Kazelas, the mastermind behind Let's Make Cyprus Green, is hoping this spot becomes the go-to for everyone looking to cut down on waste, give their bottles a second life, and fill 'em up right here.
