This eToro Fan Financial Statement analyzes match-goer spending over the last five Premier League seasons, including car and rail travel, merchandise, tickets, in-stadium food and drink, and TV subscription fees.
Sky Sport's 'elder' Gary Neville and Manchester United legend said, "(The world) Football needs to realize its capacity. There are many positive things about football. (Such as) Better stadiums, fantastic quality of play, and the atmosphere is much more inclusive. But, the affordability of funds is something that needs attention.”
"This report lays out the facts, and I hope it keeps us all aware. Football has to stand above other recreational businesses. It's more than just a game. It's about community, and we need that don't disappoint fans who have paid a heavy price."
Andrea Sartori, Head of Global Sports at KPMG, said, "The data shows that not all costs increase equally, and the most significant increases are due to external factors beyond the club's control, such as travel, TV subscriptions, and Merchandise. This research also reveals that being a Liga fan Premier is not a 'loss'. As evidenced, ticket prices are only 1% since 2014/15, well below inflation."
eToro Analyzes the Performance of Major Clubs in the Premier League
Arsenal is the most expensive team, with loyal fans who pay £ 2.238 per season. However, that fee has only increased by 2.4%, the lowest of any premier league club since 2014/15.
Newcastle United is the only group outside the expensive "Big 6" to join. This is due to rising ticket prices per season and food and drink costs, resulting in an estimated increase of 4.1% compared to y/y since 2014. Travel costs are also an influential factor, as 68% of Newcastle United fans use trains and the remaining 65% use a car for away games than the average Premier League fan.
Each club has a different offer when it comes to serving fans. eToro's Fan Financial Report looks at whether some fans are getting back more for what they have spent regarding the number of goals scored, and points won.
Gary Neville continued: "It's not just about the money. It's about a family who live a mile from the club dreaming every weekend that they can watch their heroes play. Every Saturday when I was growing up, that's the only thing I think about. It was the most important thing in my world. It fueled my dream for those 15 years until I joined United."
Iqbal V. Gandham, Managing Director UK at eToro concludes:
"As sponsors of six Premier League teams, we strive to ensure that we give back to the fans as much as possible. Our Le Tiss Air competition has been well-received by Southampton fans and this is just the first of many initiatives we will be undertaking this season, to give tribute to loyal fans who invest in what they love."
"We understand that football fans have a deep emotional investment in their club and they do everything they can to support their team, both at home and abroad. We want to do something on behalf of the fans, given the huge costs fans and the industry invest. Finance has changed over time. By doing this, we hope to bridge the gap between the investment world and the fans who love this sport."
