eToro Survey Results: 85 Percent of Retail Investors in UAE Choose Local Stocks
An eToro survey found that 85% of retail investors in the United Arab Emirates prefer local stocks. Despite high optimism, many of them also diversify their investments into gold and crypto to balance global risks.

Forex broker news this time in the form of a new survey conducted by forex broker eToro highlighting the increasing confidence of retail investors in the local stock market in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Of the 1,000 respondents surveyed by the social trading broker, 85% stated that they have invested in stocks listed on the UAE stock exchange.
The survey results also show that optimism in the UAE market is at its highest level in history. Around 45% of investors expect the local stock market to grow significantly in the next 12 months, while 65% have increased their portfolio holdings in recent months.
In the future, 76% said they plan to invest more. This growing confidence is supported by the strong performance of both the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) and the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), which have outperformed the S&P 500 this year.
However, investors remain cautious about international risks, with 90% acknowledging global trade tensions and economic barriers. Instead of withdrawing, many are actively diversifying their portfolios.
Gold remains the primary hedge, chosen by 49% of participants, while cryptocurrencies continue to gain popularity, with 54% reporting ownership. Local stocks remain a solid choice at 53%, and commodities are becoming increasingly popular at 51%.
Surveys also reveal sector preferences. Property leads as the most attractive sector, favored by 55% of investors, followed by technology (48%), financial services (37%), and energy (37%). According to respondents, government support for these industries adds to overall market confidence.
Overall, these findings from forex broker eToro show that UAE investors are optimistic about the future of the local market but also smartly preparing themselves to face global risks through diversification.
