In the world of online trading, a small mistake when typing a website address (URL) can now lead to financial disaster. According to the latest report released from latest forex broker news, the practice of typosquatting—registering domain names that are very similar to the original brand, such as Pepperstone becoming Peperstone.

The scale of this threat is quite shocking. Recent data from Akamai shows that 36% of all traffic to counterfeit domains specifically targets financial institutions.

CEO of Pepperstone forex broker, Tamas Szabo, recently spoke out about this issue and revealed that his security team is now finding one to three new fake sites every week.

In fact, one industry player reportedly had to proactively register over 600 variations of domain names just to prevent those names from falling into the hands of scammers. Although it incurs high costs, this proactive measure has become the only way to survive in an era where artificial intelligence (AI) can clone a website perfectly in seconds.

For Pepperstone forex broker, the impact of this crime is far greater than just initial financial losses. When a client gets trapped by a fake site of the TradingView partner broker, they tend to blame the brand whose logo was misused, rather than the scammers.

This situation is exacerbated by the slow regulatory response.
