For example, if I have 100USD with a leverage of 1:100.. can I buy 1 standard lot?
or do I need collateral to buy the lot?

If the margin is sufficient then it can be done. If not, then the message "Not Enough Money" will appear. What needs to be considered is the value of 1 lot.

If the value of 1 lot is 100,000 then it will not be enough.

Therefore, it is better to use a cent account first, and choose leverage 1:500. 1 Lot = 10,000.

Thanks.

sorry master,
isn't 1 lot = 10,000 in a mini account?
my cent account can use US cents as currency. So 1 USD is worth 100 cents
therefore, if 1 lot in a standard account has a volume of 100,000 units which is truly 100,000 usd, then in a cent account 1 lot has a volume of 100,000 units but the actual value is 1000 USD.

isn't that right?

To Yovi Ferdy..

The lot size per broker can vary. For example:
1 standard lot in InstaForex = 10,000
1 standard lot in XM = 100,000

1 micro lot in XM = 1,000
0.10 lot micro account in fxopen = 100.

In FBS, cent account, 0.01 lot = 10
In InstaForex, cent account, 0.10 = 10

The value of cent, mini, micro, standard accounts can vary in value at each broker.

Thanks.

Yes, that's true, but the common standard for brokers is 1 standard lot = 100,000. The 1 lot = 10,000 like Insta is very rare. XM 1 lot = 1,000 but only on one type of account, while Insta 1 lot = 10,000 applies to all accounts.. so it really generally applies as a trading condition.

My advice is that when giving examples for answers, it’s better to take them from the common standard so that others aren’t confused. Not all traders trade at Instaforex, XM micro accounts, and the like. I think more people follow the standard rule of 1 lot = 100,000.

But indeed, we as traders also need to be more careful in looking at the broker's lot rules, not just generally but also in each type of account.

To Ferdy..

Okay, thank you for the suggestion.

Every trader has their own funding capabilities. So this comes back to the trader themselves in choosing which account type is suitable for their capital ability.

Thanks.
