This broker initially used the brand/website XEmarkets.com, under the company Tradingpoint, then purchased/re-branded the domain XM.com. The case you mentioned occurred in mid-2017, and it spread everywhere (on forex market social media). In response to this, some were discouraged/moved, avoided or continued to use XM broker services.
If you are indeed doubtful about this broker, it is better to avoid it. Choose a broker that is transparent, has a separation of client and company funds, and most importantly provides fund insurance.
